Roan Vasquez successfully defended his title in the 13 and under boys’ event while Kylie Sophia Villanueva topped the 13 and under girls’ competition to lead the winners in the Bacolaodiat Invitational Table Tennis Championship 2018 hosted by Lopue's Table Tennis Association (LOPTTA) on February 16-18.
Vasquez beat Rinkart Ravello in the finals while Matthew Metoda settled for second runner-up honors.
Villanueva claimed the championship against Dianah Yapiso as Glieza Cordova finished third.
In the 10 and under boys’ beginners, Geuf Veloso overpowered Anton Bayona in the finals, while Kobe Vargas received the bronze award. In the girls’ department, Jona Gonzales prevailed over Ameera Bacomo to win the gold medal, while Cassie Casuyon was awarded the bronze medal.
Joaquin Bragancia was the champion in the 10 and under boys’ event, relegating to second place RV Valderama as James Tancinco settled for third place.
Meanwhile, in the 10 and under girls competition, Nicole Camille Bomban won the tightly contested final match against defending champion Ricci Crisdel Sausa Yesha Metoda received the bronze award.
In the seniors event, Cherry Tiongco beat Ruby Ann Longno for the top award as Kimberly Faith Trasporto received the second runner up honors.
John Michael Castro was the winner in the men’s open category with John Paul Gubaton settling for the silver medal and Danilo Abonales, the bronze medal.
In Men's Executive, Robert Arteche beat all his opponents to claim the championship while Jay Canalin placed second and Pastor Allan Tupas, third.
In the veterans event, Ben Alo defeated Msgr. Nick Melicor in the championship match as Rev. Joel Valdez placed third.
The event gathered 150 players from different clubs, schools, municipalities, and cities all over Negros Occidental.
Guest players from Tacloban, Iloilo, and Antique also joined the competition.*
