Four unidentified armed men shot and killed a farmer Saturday in Sitio Nakurohan, Brgy. Quintin Remo,Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, police said.
The victim identified by the Moises Padilla police as Johny Castelo, 47, a widower, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, and a fatal injury in the head.
Four spent shells of a .45 caliber pistol were recovered at the scene of incident by the Moises Padilla police.
Senior Inspector Renante Salgado, officer-in-charge of the Moises Padilla Police Station, saidyesterday that the suspects were reported to be in their early 20s.
Investigations of the Moises Padilla police showed that the victim and his live-in partner, Erlinda Las, were on their way home, when they were waylaid by four armed suspects.
Without any provocation, two of the four suspects shot and killed Castelo, while two others served as look-outs, Salgado said.
Salgado also said thatLas,who was spared by the suspects, told the police that she had no idea as to the identities of the suspects.
He added that Las appearednot to be cooperating with their investigations, for still unknown reasons.
The barangay of Quintin Remo, that is about 30 kilometers away from the Moises Padilla poblacion, is known as the insurgency-affected barangay of the town.
In Brgy.Tabunan, Bago City, meanwhile,a laborer was shot and mauled by six suspects Saturday at his residence.
The victim identified as Rolando Andales, 42, sustained gunshot wounds and lacerated injuries. He is now being treated at the Corazon LocsinMontelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City.
The six suspects identified as TiwiDequila, Richard Anatan, JR Llanes, TitiLLanes, RonronPedotera and Rolando Andales, were still atlarge as of yesterday.*GPB
