People power remembered

Hundreds of people, mostly wearing red, attended the flag raising ceremony in commemoration of the 32nd anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution at the Bacolod City Government Center grounds, yesterday.

Bacolod councilor Renecito Novero informed the crowd of the five-point reminders–that we not only celebrate history, but we must learn its lesson; we must not only remember our heroes, but we must emulate their sacrifices;

We must not only abhor the evil of the past, but we must not repeat them; we must not revise the constitution, but we must live it; and we must not seek reform in leadership, but we must have transformed hearts.

Novero also gave a brief history of the EDSA, while executive assistant Samuel Montoyo shared his experience during the marital law under the regime of former president Ferdinand Marcos.

The Philippine flag was hoisted and a group of children sang “Magkaisa” while attendees held hands.*SGG
