Malacañang has forwarded the call for an investigation into the questionable arrest of Moises Padilla Vice Mayor Ella Garcia-Yulo and her husband, Felix, to the Philippine National Police Directorate for Operations for action, John Chiong, president and founder of Kasanag, said yesterday.
Chiong, as president of a watchdog group, said he wrote to President Rodrigo Duterte to bring to his attention the circumstances behind the Dec.19, 2017, arrest of the Yulos by the Moises Padilla police.
The Yulos are asking for justice as they stand by their affidavits that the explosives, guns and alleged shabu, that turned out to be negative according to crime laboratory findings, were planted in their car, Chiong told the president in his letter.
He also reported to the president the alleged delays and series of alibis by then Moises Padilla police chief, Senior Inspector Allan Reloj, and other circumstances which he said deliberately deprived the Yulos of their rights while they were jailed.
“Please look into the matter by initiating an investigation into the circumstances, in the spirit of fairness and justice,” Chiong asked the president.
AssistantSecretary JaimeLlagaunoMabilin of the Presidential Complaint Center forwarded the letter of Chiong to Director PancratiusCascolan of the PNP Directorate for Operations for action.
Assistant Secretary Margarita Yu of the Presidential Management Staff also forwarded the complaint of Chiong against the alleged widespread recruitment of cataract patients by a cataract foundation to Dr. Celestina Ma. Jude delaCerna, president and chief executive officer of the Philippine Health Insurance Corp., for investigation.*CPG
