The total crime volume in Bacolod City in the first 20 days of this month decreased by 34 percent, compared to the same period last year.
From February 1 to 20, this year, the Bacolod City Police Office recorded 147 crime incidents. This is 77 incidents lower, compared to the recorded 224 in 2017, Senior Supt. Francisco Ebreo, BCPO officer-in-charge, said.
Index crimes such as homicide, murder, physical injuries, rape, robbery, theft, carnapping, and motorcycle theft, and non-index crimes or those special laws, threats, and alarm and scandal, also dropped during the same period this month, Ebreo said.
For index crimes, a 63 percent decrease was noted. The BCPO only recorded 32 index crimes this month from the 87 in 2017, records show.
For non-index crimes, the BCPO noted 22 incidents or 16 percent decrease in the cases with 137 last year to only 115 this year.
The eight focus crimes reduced by 63 percent, or 55 incidents. In 2017, there were 87 incidents while there were only 32 this year.
The eight focus crimes are crimes against persons and properties, Ebreo said.
The police-initiated operations such as in drugs, gambling, and guns also increased by 89 percent from 19 operations to 36, Ebreo said.*SGG
