Suspected dengue
kills 5-year-old
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

A 5-year-old girl from Barangay Sum-ag, Bacolod City, died of suspected dengue on Valentine's Day and is the first fatality recorded by the Bacolod City Health Office this year.

CHO Environmental and Sanitation head Dr. Grace Tan said yesterday that the child was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital on February 11 for having a cough.

She however later developed seizures and diedwhen her platelets dropped, Tan said.

The CHO has recorded 100 suspected dengue cases in Bacolod City since January 1.

Records show that the top five barangays with suspected dengue cases are Barangays Sum-ag, Singcang, Tangub, Villamonte, and Handumanan.*CGS
