Teacher killed in accident
BY SHIELA GELERA

A retired elementary school teacher died when she was hit by a motorcycle at the Mansilingan-Murcia Road, BanggaPaglaum Village, in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, at about 5 a.m. yesterday.

Salvacion Alejano, 69, of PaglaumVillage was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital but was declared dead on arrival, Senior Insp. Ramel Sarona, Police Station 7 chief, said.

Alejano was crossing the street to ride a jeepney when the Rusi motorcycle without plate number of Romel Maca, 29, of Barangay Buenavista in Murcia town, Negros Occidental, hit her, Sarona said.

The motorcycle of Maca was heading west of the road, police records show.

Sarona said Alejano was on her way to attend mass at the church.

Maca, who also sustained injuries, was also brought to the CLMMRH where he is now recuperating, Sarona said.

He said Maca had not presented any official receipt/certificate of registration of the motorcycle or his driver's license.

Charges for reckless imprudence resulting to homicidemay be filed against Maca, depending on the family members of Alejano, Sarona said.

Separate charges for violation of Republic Act 4136 or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code may also be filed against Maca, he added.

The motorcycle of Maca was impounded at Station 7.*SGG
