KAL/Avescor beats HandBac, 91-76,
in EBC President's Cup curtain-raiser

Raymund Ferrer scored 16 points to lead KAL/ A vescor past HandBac, 91-76, in the opening game of the Elite Basketball Club President's Cup 1 st Conference, Saturday at Manville Subdivision, Brgy. Pahanocoy, Bacolod City.

Ferrer got scoring support from teammate Jack Bernales, whose steady perimeter shooting netted him 13 points while Jayson Olivar shot 12 points to secure the win for KAL/Avescor.

It was a team effort for the winning team as Boting Ruiz and Jerry Ong scored 10 points apiece while Nonoy Grajo added 9, Bong Quinon and Natz Galvez with 8 points each and Michael Erras with 5 points.

Other members of the KAL/Avescor lineup are: Arvin Pelegrino, Edwin Layon, Virgil Bernadas, Nelbert Alvarez, Biboy Cuñada, Andro Del Mundo and Lorderick Reyes.

HandBac was led by J. Sameestrado with 14 points while Avelino Mong uriños finished with 11 markers.

Six teams are competing in the tournament led by home teams KAL/Avescor, Jaka/Health Essentials and Karnex Gold. The visiting teams are Atty. Arnel Lapore's IBP Negros/NOHS Batch 83-84, Mong Auriños' HandBac and Team Ceneco/Blackout.

The Elite Basketball Club is a group of entrepreneurs and professionals joined together for a healthy and friendly games of basketball. The group, headed by Jorge Joniega Jr., considers the Manville basketball court as its turf.

Playing for Karmex Gold are Mark Jomalesa, Gerard Benedicto, Titing Canete, Jonart Rodriguez Verzosa, Errol Valderrama Ledesma, Ricky Morales, James Lim, Junel Ucab, Ronald Ray Dumala-os, Ronald Cuba, Jorge Joniega Jr, Miguel Perez, Rhon Mascuñana, Ceasar Solaybar, Marbin U Go and Boogie Fuentes.

JAKA/Health Essentials Inc.lineup is composed of Rizal Labordo, Dindo Satam, Guillermo Legaria, Ariel Luna Tornilla, Raul Ferrer, Reygin Oquiana, Drex Tingson, Albert Gozon, Jay Nonato, Joey Jesena, Mike Tanalgo, Jayvee Esm, Marvin Tan, Ronan Tuya, Peter Jun Jalbuena, Ian Gerard Saruca Abello and Victor Guiterrez.*
