A series of anti-drug operations conducted by the police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Thursday night led to the arrest of three newly identified drug personalities and the seizure of about P175,000 worth of suspected shabu in Negros Occidental.
Joseph Garrucho, 18, and Renato Carisma Jr., 19, were both arrested during a buy-bust operation at Villa Hergon in Brgy. Rizal, Silay City.
Supt. Noel Polines, Silay City police chief, said the arrest of Garrucho and Carisma yielded 31 sachets of suspected shabu, estimated to have a market value of P50,000, marked money of P500, and P34 in cash.
Both were brought to the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City, for medical check-up before they were placed behind bars. They were also brought to the PNP Crime Laboratory, including the confiscated drugs, for drug testing and laboratory examination.
The arrest of the two suspects was also followed by another buy-bust operation in Brgy. Guinhalaran, also in Silay City, that led to the arrest of Anhrey Jaena, 18.
Polines said the buy-bust operation and arrest of Jaena, a newly-identified drug personality, also yielded about 25 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street market value of P125,000.
A laborer identified as Eldy de Penia, alias Nene, was also arrested by the police during a buy-bust operation yesterday in Brgy. Sampinit, Bago City.
The apprehension of de la Penia yielded eight sachet of suspected shabu, and P1,300 in cash, as well as P300 in marked money, according to the police.
In Brgy. Tabugon, Kabankalan City, a farmer identified as Rene Blanco was arrested by Kagawad Joe Vincent Bustamante and barangay tanod Robert Cosio for creating alarm and scandal also on Thursday.
The arrest of Blanco, 58, yielded a Smith and Wesson 357 Magnum revolver with four live ammunition.*GPB
