‘Cashless' transaction
introduced in Bacolod

Bacoleños are among the top users of “cashless transactions” through a mobile application, especially with PayMaya, Willy Gamboa of SM Store said during a promotional event they held at the atrium of SM City Bacolod, in celebration of the Bacolaodiat Festival in Bacolod City.

Gamboa said that, of more than 60 SM Store branches in the country, Bacolod was recorded as one of the top buyers using mobile application like PayMaya to pay for the things they bought in the mall, indicating the people's “adaptability” to new technology.

“This means that people in Negros, particularly Bacolod City, can easily adapt to the change that we have, in terms of mobile transactions,” Gamboa said.

The SM Store and PayMaya Philippines are once again redefining shopping experience for Filipinos with a new campaign to provide added convenience and delight to customers in Bacolod, with a 10 percent rebate on all purchases made using PayMaya QR (Quick Response), in celebration of the 2018 Bacolaodiat Festival in time for the Chinese New Year, a press release from the company said.

PayMaya's head of Business, Raymund Villanueva, said yesterday that Bacoleños are among the adapting people who lead the way towards “cashless” transactions through a mobile application like PayMaya.

He said PayMaya is one of the consumer products that can help Filipinos gain financial accounts easier, and that the security features of the application are not compromised as it follows the regulations set by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

Through PayMaya QR, shoppers at The SM Store in SM Bacolod can simply open their PayMaya app, tap the “scan” button, and point their phones at the special QR codes displayed at The SM Store's Mobile Pay lanes to complete their transactions, the press release said.

PayMaya's cashless system has been available since last December in all branches of The SM Store nationwide, Villanueva also said.

To encourage more Bacolodnons to experience cashless convenience, PayMaya is offering an introductory promo where shoppers can get a 10 percent rebate (up to P100 per branch per day) on their purchases whenever they pay using PayMaya QR until April 15, the press release also said.

For every P1,000 spent, shoppers also get the chance to win one out of 10 iPhone X units, it added.

Those who download the PayMaya app at the SM Bacolod Activity Center during the Bacolaodiat Festival weekend will get the chance to instantly win P50, P100, P200 or P300 Paymaya credits, the press release said.
