Dumaguete VM cites
counterflow problem

Dumaguete City Vice Mayor Frank Esmena said the implementation of the Discipline Zone project showed that some motorists were counter-flowing the traffic in the national highway.

Esmena said he also observed that some motorists are also counter-flowing along Perdices Street or in the commercial district at 7 p.m. along the area, despite the presence of sign boards of “no entry” until 8 p.m. During the City Council session, he called the attention of the Traffic Management Office to look into the matter.

City Councilor Manny Arbon said he hopes that the implementation of the Discipline Zone project will go on for a longer time, not just for one week or two or even a month. He also said he observed that a lot of motorists are doing counter flow despite “no entry signs”.

Arbon said he supports wholeheartedly the initiation of the well intentioned Discipline Zone project and is hoping that people will change and become more obedient to traffic rules.*
