Bacolaodiat kicks off today

The four-day 2018 Bacolaodiat Festival in Bacolod City will kick off with a grand parade at 4 p.m. today from the Bacolod Public Plaza to the South Capitol Road.

The opening of the Chopsticks Alley and the Bacolaodiat Imperial Village will be held at 5 p.m. also at the South Capitol Road.

This will be followed by a lantern street dance competition and a cultural show at 6 p.m.; as well as entertainment and the GlobeBacolaodiat at 9 p.m.

A “Symphony of Lights and Sparks fireworks display will follow at 11:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, a“Family Legacy of Loyalty and Honor Fair” will be held at the Yuan Thong Temple in Burgos Street in Brgy. Villamonte at 6 p.m. and this will be followed by a “Light Offering Prayer” at 10:30 p.m. at the same venue today.

The “First Prayer of the Year” will be held at the Yuan Thong Temple at 10 a.m. tomorrow to be followed by the NOKCI All Breed Championship Dog Show at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym at 11 a.m.

Singer, composer, businessman Jose Mari Chan will be conferred the title of Adopted Son and Honorary Mayor of Bacolod City at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Bacolod City Government Center.

A parade of mascots and imperial cloud walkers will start at 3 p.m. at the South Capitol Road while a spring festival dinner will follow at the SMX Convention Center at 7 p.m. tomorrow.

The Bacolaodiat Chinese Cuisine cooking demo will be held at 3 p.m. at the South Capitol Road on Saturday, while a car audio sound off will start at 5 p.m. at the Bacolod City Government Center grounds.

A lantern dance competition will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. from the South CapitolRoad to 3th-Lacson streets to be followed by the Bacolaodiat Lunar Music Fest at 9 p.m.

Events on Sunday include the Robinsons Chinese Cuisine Cook-Off at Robinsons Place-Bacolod to be followed by the Bacolaodiat Singing Master at 2 p.m., Bacolaodiat dog lovers day fun match at 3 p.m. and closing ceremonies at 7 p.m., at the BCGC grounds.* CGS
