It will be a rematch between the finalists of the 2017 AFC Cup ASEAN Zone Finals when Ceres-Negros FC and Home United FC clash on Feb. 27 Matchday 2 in Group F of the AFC Cup 2018.
Both teams started their campaign on a bright side with Ceres destroying BoeungKet FC of Cambodia, 9-0, at home in Panaad while Home United pulled off a 1-0 away win against Shan United of Myanmar at Yangon Tuesday night.
With the intensity shown by the Busmen against BoeungKet, Ceres head coach RistoVidakovic hopes they will get three points in Singapore.
“We will go there to fight as a team, play for the club and give everything to get a good result,” Vidakovic said.
The Serbian mentor of the Busmen trains his sight on the games ahead knowing that the competition will get tougher. He also need all his players in good form, the reason why he pulled out Fil-German Stephan Schrock minutes before halftime during Tuesday's game.
He said Shrock was not feeling well the past two days and with Ceres up 5-0 after 32 minutes of play, Vidakovic said it was unnecessary to subject Shrock to possible injury.
Having players like Shrock and Spanish goalkeeper Toni Doblas, he said their experience in playing in higher level of competition such as the Bundesliga in Germany and La Liga in Spain, is a gift to the team.
“They are an inspiration to the other players and the youth. We are just grateful to have them,” Vidakovic said.*NAB
