SP approves P178M
for markets, hospitals

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental unanimously approved yesterday the proposed 2018 general fund supplemental budget number 2 of the province, at a total amount of P178 million.

Of this amount, Board Member Salvador Escalante, chairperson of the SP Committee on Finance, said yesterday that P88 million will be used in the construction of a public market in Brgy. Ma-ao, Bago City, and P50 million for the construction also of a public market in Candoni, Negros Occidental.

Escalante said that P40 million has been allocated for the upgrading of the Calatrava District Hospital. . moremoremore

MANILA - The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration cautioned Filipino workers who are working in Macau against those who are offering employment in mainland China.

In a statement yesterday, the agency noted that the people should be wary in accepting job offers in the country, particularly in the capital Beijing.

“The POEA warns both Filipino workers and tourists looking for work in Macau to be cautious in accepting offers from other Filipinos for supposed employment," it said.

Bredco president eyeing port as transshipment point in PH

The president of the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. is eyeing to fast track the modernization of the Bredco Port to make it a transshipment point in the country.

Bredco president John Alonte said yesterday that there are development plans aligned to modernize the port, as key ports in the country, like in Manila, Batangas and Cebu, have become congested.

He said it will entail billions of pesos, and to develop the area located at the Reclamation Area of Bacolod City, they have already signed a renewal of contract to continue the development...
