DILG acts on tanods

Local Government Operations officer Farah Diba Gentuya has furnished the 30 barangays in Dumaguete City copies of the Department of Interior and Local Government memorandum circular, aimed at professionalizing barangay tanods.

A salient feature of the circular is to retire tanods who are 60 years old and above, and replace them with younger and more capable ones.

In response to the circular, Barangay Bajumpandan immediately retired four of its aging barangay tanods. And since these tanods still want to serve the barangay, a task force on environment was created where they can be accommodated.

The task force on environment was created by Bajumpandan to address the problem of proper garbage disposal and for the former tanods to monitor the throwing of garbage along creeks and roads.*JG
