P.3M in drugs seized

About P360,000 in drugs was seized in Bacolod and Negros Occidental Thursday and yesterday.

The police said P260,000 worth of suspected shabu was seized from four persons, including a member of the Berya Drug Group in two buy-bust operations in barangays 2 and Vista Alegre, Bacolod City.

Members of the City Drug Enforcement Unit nabbed a high value target (HVT) and her companion for allegedly engaging in an illegal drugs transaction at AbadaEscay in Barangay Vista Alegre, at about 4 p.m. yesterday.

Members of the City Drug Enforcement Unit arrested Chargotte de Asis, 28, tagged as an HVT under the Berya Drug Group and ReginTabara, a report from Police Regional Office-6 said.

Recovered from De Asis and Tabara were six sachets of suspected shabu, P1,000 in cash, and a digital weighing scale, police records show.

The confiscated drugs weigh about 17 grams with an estimated street-value of P225,000, Senior Insp. Armilyn Vargas, Bacolod City Police Office public information officer, said.

Meanwhile, about P35,000 worth of suspected shabu was recovered during a buy-bust operation in Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2 in Bacolod, at about 6 p.m. Thursday, Chief Insp. BenedictoVillarias, Police Station 2 commander, said.

Station 2 operatives nabbed Ronell Dumali, alias “Nonoy”, 37, of Barangay 6 in Bacolod, and Jose Mari Jimera, 33, of Barangay 14 in Bacolod, a police report said.

The operation yielded 12 sachets of suspected shabu, P200 in marked money, a coin purse, an improvised tooter, and P300 in cash, police records show.

The apprehended suspects may face charges for violations of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.*SGG

The renewed campaign against illegal drugs also yielded about P100,000 worth of suspected shabu, recovered from two arrested suspects in separate buy-bust operations of the police in Silay City and San Enrique, Negros Occidental.

The joint operation of the local police and Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit in Brgy. Sibucao, San Enrique, yesterday led to the arrest of Joel Limen, 45, that also yielded about 6.9 grams of suspected shabu worth P82,800, and P500 in marked money.

A day earlier, combined operations of the local police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency also led to the arrest of NoliDicto, a newly-identified drug personality, during a buy-bust operation at Bonifacio KalyeOnse in Brgy.2 poblacion, Silay City.

The apprehension of Dicto, 23, also yielded 23 sachets of suspected shabu, estimated to have a market value of P19,000, P500 in marked money,P1,200 in cash and a bicycle.

The two arrested suspects are now in jail, while charges for violation of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Drug Act of 2002 are now being readied for filing against them.*GPB
