The upgrading of hospital facilities, that is expected to boost the delivery of health services to Negrenses, got the bulk of budget of the 20 percent Provincial Development Fund for 2018, with an allocation of P51.5 million.
This includes the purchase of hospital equipment for the operation of the new wing of the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City, Negros Occidental, Board Member Salvador Escalante, chairperson of the SP committee on Finance, said yesterday.
The P51.5 million budget for hospital facilities upgrading was among the 43 items listed in the 20 Percent Development Fund for 2018, with a total of P608 million, that was approved earlier by the Provincial Development Council, and concurred in by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental during its regular session yesterday, presided over by Board Member Pedro Zayco.
The non-utilization of the TLJPH extension in Silay City, Negros Occidental, several years after the completion of its construction, was also blamed on the lack of nurses and hospital staff, which is now being addressed by the provincial government.
Of the P608 million 20 percent PDF, Escalante said P215 million has been earmarked for loan payments, with the balance of P395,500,000 allocated for various development programs and projects of the province this year.
An amount of P25 million has been allocated for the farm mechanization program of the provincial government, P20 million for establishment of agri-fishery laboratory center in Bago City, P19.8 million for countepart fund for irrigation projects in 18 identified sites , P10 million each for agro-tourism development at Negros First Ranch and construction of additional structure at the Panaad Park Organic Village, P8.1 million for counterpart for Department of Agriculture irrigation programs, P8 million for rehabilitation of waterline and construction of filtering tank and reservoirs, P7.5 million fior upgrading and procurement of farm facilities, among other allocations.
The SP also approved supplemental budget number 1 in the amount of P30,570,600 for the repairs of the Mambucal Mountain resort and the construction of two buildings for animals hub bamboo craft.
Escalante said the provincial government is putting up an auction market for animals, that to be operational the whole year round, and not only during the Pana-ad Festival celebration.
The Finance committee headed by Escalante will hold a hearing next week, to discuss the proposed supplemental budget number 2 of the province, of P189 million, with the fund to be taken from the Municipal Development Fund Office of the Department of Finance.* GPB
