Flyover reassessment sought
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

A resolution was approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod yesterday for the conduct of an inspection, re-assessment and evaluation of the structural stability of the newly constructed flyover along Araneta Street-Magsaysay Avenue in Brgy. Singcang, Bacolod City,as requested by Councilor Ricardo Tan.

Tan said he is requesting this from the Department of Public Works and Highways, City Engineer's Office and the Office of Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya, claiming that a portion of it shakes and becomes unstable when a certain number of vehicles pass over it.

He said he authored a resolution because of complaints aired by several persons. It is also in social media so they have to investigate this, especially the humps, before any accident happens.

For the sake of public safety, it is imperative that a team of structural engineers and other experts, especially engineers of the DPWH, as well as the CEO, should test and check the structural integrity of the flyover, in order to ensure the safety and security of the commuting public, it added.*CGS
