Summit blitzed to its third victory at the expense of Ultimo, 83-65, while Sunkist held off Barista, 74-71, in Class B of the theFil-Sino Asia Brewery Cup Basketball at the Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym in Bacolod City.
Ultimo had a promising start as Andy Tio, Mark Binguan and Henel Jison combined for 16 points to take a 22-14 lead in the first quarter.
But Summit moved in front at the break, 44-40, behind the effort of Marc Lo, Dandan Ong and Beejay Paredes, who conspired for 26 points.
Jeffrey Espuerta and KieronTan scored 8 and 6 points respectively to continue the Summit charge while Ultimo's third quarter output dipped to six points for a 66-46 deficit going to the fourth quarter.
Efraim Valencia led Summit scorers with 20 points while Ong finished with 14 and Tan tallied 11 points.
Binguan finished with 21 for Ultimo while Nico Lopingco connected with 14. Jison and Brian Tan contributed 7 points apiece and Roderick de los Santos scored 6 points.
In the other game, Barista held a 41-39 lead during intermission behind Jas Guevarra and Luigi Coo's13 points while Lito Dumdum and Chibon Uy delivered seven points each to keep Sunkist afloat.
Barista equaled Sunkist's output in the third quarter behind PaoPao Lim's eight points for a 57-55scorelinegoing to the fourth quarter.
Several lead changes in the fourth quarter kept the game interesting but Barista produced its lowest quarter output while Sunkist finished strong with contributions from Monroe Chua, Dumdum and Uy for the win.
Meanwhile Creamy Delight recovered from a first quarter deficit and outscored Absolute in the next three quarters to complete the 75-66 come-from-behind win.
Creamy Delight faced a 52-47 deficit going to the payoff period but Jay Taleon and Ramil Bulado presided the fourth quarter comeback and combined for 26 points to survive Absolute.
Bulado topscored for Creamy Delight with 24 points while Ramon Khey paced Absolute with 23 points.*
