The Provincial Veterinary Office reported a 47 percent increase in the animals registered and sold at auction markets in Negros Occidental in 2017.
The PVO yearend report showed that, there were 200,352 animals sold in the auction market last year, which is 64,8549 higher than the 135,503 sold in 2016.
Live chicken had the highest leap in terms of animals sold, from 62,054 to 87,649 last year, or 25,595 in increase, followed by swine from 33,162 to 57,719, or a 24,557 increase.
Big market for motorcycles
noted in Bacolod, Negros
Motorcycle sales are growing at more than 10 percent a year, and there is a big market for them in Bacolod and Negros, Hiram Chu, Infinity Ultrabikes president, said Saturday.
Chu and Suzuki Philippines president Hiroshi Suzuki led the twin launch of Infinity Ultrabikes Inc., a Suzuki Big Bike 3S shop, and Platinum Edge Motorcycle Distributors Inc., a Suzuki Regular Bike 3S shop, at the Chu Building at Araneta Avenue in Brgy. Singcang, Bacolod City, Saturday.
The building stands onan about 2,000square-meter property, and is considered to have the biggest motorcycle 3S shops in Bacolod.
cruise ports pushed
Former president and Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (Pampanga, 2 nd District) is pushing for the construction of cruise ports in major coastal provinces of the country, a government press release said.
“If the cruise ports are constructed, the Philippines will further open its gateway for more Chinese tourists. Data from the Department of Tourism showed that China is our third largest source of tourists,” she said during a luncheon she hosted for the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and Association for Philippine-China Understanding.
From January to November last year, about 890,114 Chinese tourists visited the country which is a significant improvement from the 243,137 arrivals recorded in 2011.
