PRC seeks cinema
tax assistance

The Philippine Red Cross–Bacolod City Chapter is again requesting for the endorsement of the Bacolod City government of the continued collection of P1 additional cinema entrance fee from all cinemas in Bacolod City.

The PRC is able to sustain the implementation of its various humanitarian services through its fund generation project, it said in a letter to Bacolod Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran dated January 23, signed by PRC officer-in-charge Rita Benita Mirasol and Board chairman Carlos Ganihong.

“We are so grateful for the support of the Bacolod City government through a resolution passed by the SangguniangPanlungsod in 2012, endorsing the request of PRC-Negros Occidental and Bacolod Chapters to the Bacolod theater owners and operatorsfor the collection of P1 additional entrance fee from each moviegoer, subject to the terms and conditions that both parties may agree on,” Mirasol said.

The proceeds from cinema collection enables them to preposition goods and capable staff and volunteers who will respond to various safety deployments, emergencies and disasters in the city, she added.

Mirasol said that out of the three cinemas in Bacolod, only SM Cinema has been able to collect and remit the additional entrance fee up to now.*CGS
