Two men were sentenced to life imprisonment yesterday for the sale of illegal drugs.
Executive Judge Raymond Joseph Javier ofthe Bacolod Regional Trial Court Branch 52 found Rodel Baja Villanueva and Danilo Florentino Santos, alias Kid, guilty beyond reasonable doubt for the sale of shabu, in violation of Section 5, Article II, of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
He meted Villanueva and Santos, who are both fathers, life terms and ordered them to pay fines of P500,000 each.
Villanueva was charged for selling .033 gram of shabu to a Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency poseur buyer in exchange for P500 inPurokKabuswagon, Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod, on March 14, 2013.
During a body search upon Villanueva's arrest an additional .021 gram of shabu was recovered from him, the court was also told.
Javier also found Villanueva guilty beyond reasonable doubt for possession of drugs and sentenced him to 12 years and 8 months as minimum to 17 years and 8 months as maximum imprisonment, and to pay a fine of P300,000.
Santos was nabbed for selling .04 gram of shabu to a police poseur buyer for P500 at Ciocon Street, Barangay 26, Bacolod, on Oct. 10, 2008 for which he was meted life imprisonment.
He was also charged for possession of 7.17 grams of shabu for which he was sentenced to 20 years and one day imprisonment and to pay a fine of P400,000.
