Ceres-Negros starts AFC Cup
bid against Cambodia's Boeung Ket FC

Ceres-Negros FC will face BoeungKet FC of Cambodia Feb. 13 in their opening match of the 2018 AFC Cup at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.

The Cambodia Laos representatives qualified to the tournament after winning, 4-3, in aggregate over Lao Toyota in a two-legged playoff.

Joining them in Group F of the 2018 AFC Cup qualifiers are Myanmar's Shan United and Home United of Singapore.

The Busmen beat Shan United in penalties during their historic run in the AFC Champions League last month, while Home United bowed to Ceres in the ASEAN Zone finals of the AFC Cup last year.

All four teams will play three home games and three away matches with the team advancing to the Zonal Semifinals. The best second place record from the three ASEAN groups will qualify for the knockout stage.

Ceres will host Shan United on March 6 and Home United on April 25 for their final group match.

Meanwhile, Cebu-based Global FC will open their campaign in the AFC Cup in an away match against Vietnam's FLC ThanhHoa on Feb. 10.

They are joined by Bali United of Indonesia and Yangon United of Myanmar in Group G of the qualifiers.

Both Ceres and Global are seeing action in the 2018 Philippines Football League with the Busmen defending the title they won last year against the Cebu team.

The four other teams in the PFL this season are Kaya-Iloilo FC, Davao Aguilas, Stallions Laguna and JPV Marikina. Last year's second runner-up Meralco Manila withdrew from the league along withIlocos United.*NAB
