Palarong Pambansa campaigners dominate
1st Royal Paddle-ABES 1 table tennis tourney


Palarong Pambansa gold medalist John Carl Yanson of Negros Occidental High School managed to maintain his composure under pressure and escaped a tightly contest match against another Palaro champion, Raul Mallen III at City Mall, Mandalagan, Bacolod City.

In the 17 Under Girls category, Cyres Sevilla of San Enrique, who finished with a silver medal in this year’s Palaro, captured the crown against Al Franzen Maris Arisco, also a Palaro standout.

In the 10-Under girls bracket, San Enrique’s outstanding player Ashley Hope Figueroa easily captured the crown, 3-0, against Jona Mae Gonzales of Toboso.

In the 13 Under Boys, most improved player and Bacolod City division meet champion Kristian Jason Magallanes showed his exceptional strokes to overcome Palaro gold medalist and tournament favourite Raul Mallen III in the semi-finals. Keeping his impressive form and polishing his attacks in the finals, Magallanes won against La Carlota City No. 1 player SB Ginete in a tightly contested match, 3-2.

A total of 119 players participate in the tournament from Ilog, San Enrique, Bago City, Ma-ao, La Carlota City, Talisay City, Toboso, Sagay City, Murcia, House of Praise – Bacolod and Districts 1, 2, 5 6, 7 in elementary level and Units 2 and 3 in high school.

Cash prizes, trophies, medals and table tennis items, were given to the winners.

The tournament was organized by the parents of ABES-I.*
