Close to P.5 million worth of suspected shabu and marijuana was seized in two buy-bust operations in San Carlos and Bacolod cities in Negros Occidental, yesterday.
About P300,000 in suspected shabu was recovered from a drug personality on the police watchlist at Carmona Street in Barangay 6, San Carlos, at about 5:50 a.m. yesterday.
Supt. D’Artagnan Katalbas Jr., San Carlos Police chief, identified the arrested subject of the operation as Michael Christopher Gonzales, 36, of the barangay.
Two small and one big sachets of suspected shabu, a Yamaha Mio motorcycle, P500 in marked money, and P980 in cash proceeds were seized from Gonzales, police records show.
Katalbas said Gonzales got the contraband from a “source” in Cebu. A human “courier” transported the shabu through a sea vessel from Cebu to the San Carlos port.
The usual customers of Gonzales were also people at the San Carlos port, Katalbas added.
Follow-up operations are still being conducted to identify the source of Gonzales.
Meanwhile, the Bacolod police confiscated eight sachets of suspected shabu and a pack of marijuana worth about P180,000from four men in Barangay 3, in the city, yesterday.*SGG
