DITC holds natíl startup roadshow

The Department of Information and Communications Technology, in cooperation with Impact Hub Manila and the ICT Association of Dumaguete and Negros Oriental, launched this year’s first “Elevate National Startup Roadshow” in Dumaguete City recently, a government press release said.

Dumaguete was the roadshow’s first stop, and it will travel to Clark, Pampanga; Iloilo City, Baguio City; and Cagayan de Oro, to promote information and empower aspiring startups to help bring their ideas to reality.

ICT-DGTE executive director Danah Fortunato said the roadshow will bring digital startups for teachers and students in Negros Oriental, initiate knowledge transfer, create opportunities and help entrepreneurs realize their ideas and innovations, the press release said.

Digital startups or entrepreneurs in the province will get a boost with leveraging new digital technologies in novel ways, such as social, mobile, analytics, cloud and cyber-solutions, all in order to shift the traditional way of creating and doing business in the digital era, Fortunato said.

The initiative was created to support DICT’s SeedPH Program that aims to enrich and strengthen the development of communities in the countryside, which have been crucial in the spread of startup advocacy.

DigitalPH Program manager Emmy Lou Delfin of DICT said the roadshow is a chance to interact with ICT entrepreneurs, to showcase their stories and find more talents to further grow the reach of the community, the press release added.*
