At least P.5 million worth of suspected shabu was seized in a series of buy-bust operations in Bacolod City and San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, during the weekend.
On Sunday policemen seized suspected shabu, with an estimated market value of P240,000, from a woman, arrested during a buy-but operation in Brgy. 6, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
Nabbed during the operation was Marcela Teresa Batusin, 45, a drug personality in San Carlos City, according to the police.
An estimated 20 grams of suspected worth P240,000 was recovered from her possession, aside from the P1,000 in marked money. police said.
Policemen also arrested Marcos Hernaiz, 19, in Brgy. Zone 3, Murcia, Negros Occidental, for violation of RA 10591, or the Comelec gun ban.
The arrest of Hernaiz yielded three live ammunition of a 12 gauge shotgun.
Investigations of the Murcia police showed that the suspect was involved in alarm and scandal and also allegedly engaged in extortion activities.
Batusin and Hernaiz are both in jail, pending the filing of charges against them in court.
Meanwhile, a fugitive facing rape charges, was also apprehended by the police on Sunday in Brgy. Salong, Kabankalan City, by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Rodney Magbanua.
The apprehended suspect, identified as Danny Cayetano, 46, and a laborer, who is ranked number eight among the 10 most wanted persons in Kabankalan City, according to the police.
Meanwhile, about P275,000 worth of suspected shabu was seized in two buy-bust operations that led to the arrest of four persons, including a pusher who conducted drugs transactions in a pigpen in Bacolod City, Friday night and Saturday morning.
Police Station 2 operatives nabbed three persons during a buy-bust operation at a pigpen in Purok Fire, Barangay 8 in Bacolod, at about 11:10 a.m. Saturday.
The police apprehended Allan Palomo, 18, of Barangay Alijis, Jomel Mayordomo, 18, of Barangay 78, and Ronnie Taasan, 29, of Barangay 10 in Bacolod, Chief Insp. Benedicto Villarias, Police Station 2 commander, said yesterday.
Palomo gave a small sachet of suspected shabu to the police poseur-buyer, in exchange for P200 in marked money, Villarias said.
Seven sachets of suspected shabu were also recovered from Palomo, who sells shabu in a pigpen, Villarias said.
He also said Mayordomo and Taasan were caught sniffing suspected shabu. An improvised tooter and two sachets of suspected shabu were seized from them.
The police estimated the suspected shabu seized at P50,000.
Meanwhile, operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Agency confiscated about P225,000 worth of suspected shabu from a 23-year-old at corner Gonzaga-Lopez Jaena streets in Barangay 28, Bacolod, at about 10:30 p.m. Friday, a report from Police Regional Office 6 said.
The contraband was seized from Bryan Blasi, of Barangay 27 in Bacolod, police records show.*GPB/SGG
