SP okays P131.1M in projects

The Negros Occidental provincial government has earmarked P131,150,000 for the purchase of dredging equipment, establishment of an evacuation center or resettlement site, and four other projects.

Such projects of the different departments and offices of the provincial government for inclusion in in the 2018 Annual Investment Program, that was approved by the Provincial Development Council chaired by Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. on March 12, also got the concurrence of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan during its regular session yesterday.

Board Member Salvador Escalante, chairperson of the SP committee on Finance, said yesterday that, of the approved amount, P66.2 million has been allocated for the purchase of dredging equipment, P49 million for establishment of evacuation center/ resettlement site, P8.2 million support to the Task Force Buglas operations, P3.8 million support to health emergency management system, P3.5 allocated for the Quick Response Center and P300,000 for the first aid training.

Escalante said the funds will be taken from the budget for disaster mitigation

Provincial Planning and Development Officer Maria Lina Sanogal said the proposed projects for funding of the province are anchored on the Negros First Agenda as the development framework of the provincial government, particularly on optimum health care and disaster preparedness.

The SP also approved the increase in clothing allowance of Capitol employees from P5,000 to P6,000, as mandated by law, with funds to be taken from savings of the province.

Escalante said the SP also approved the request of Marañon for the increase in PhilHealth contributions of Capitol employees.*GPB
