Bacolod crimes down 35%
BY SHIELA G. GELERA

The total crime volume in Bacolod City for March this year decreased by 35 percent, compared to the same period in 2017.

Senior Supt. Francisco Ebreo, officer-in-charge of the Bacolod City Police Office, said that they recorded 215 crime incidents in Bacolod last month. This is lower by 114 incidents compared to the 329 in March 2017.

The index crimes also dropped by 53 percent, or from 117 last year to only 55 this year.

Index crimes include murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, carnapping, and motorcycle theft.

Non-index crimes likewise had a downtrend last month compared to the same period last year. The BCPO noted a decrease of 26 percent, or from 212 to 160 non-index crimes.

“Bacolod City still remains peaceful with no high profile crimes, political killings, liquidation of prominent personalities, kidnap-for-ransom, bank robbery, and terrorist bombing incidents,” Ebreo said.

The police-initiated operation meanwhile increased by 41 percent, or from 49 operations in March 2017 to 69 last month.

Among the police-initiated operations are those against illegal drugs, illegal gambling, illegal possession of firearms, and other special laws.*SGG
