Do not endorse brgy, SK
bets, Negros mayors told

Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday reminded mayors that it is illegal for them to campaign and endorse barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan candidates for the May 14 polls.

They could face charges for that, he said.

The filing of the certificates of candidacy and the election period for the barangay and SK polls will start on Saturday.

He called on the candidates to keep their campaigns peaceful and friendly.

“Let us avoid a politics of violence,” he said.

Barangay and SK elections should be non-partisan, he stressed.*CPG
