Negrense pugs to compete
in 2018 Panaad Boxing tilt

 

Top boxers from different local government units in the Negros Occidental will showcase their talent in the 2018 Panaad Boxing Tournament scheduled on April. 16. 20 at the Panaad Park and Stadium.

The young fighters will vie for the gold, silver, and bronze medals in 20 weight divisions in different brackets.

Bracket A is the Kids bracket with the participants 11-12 years old for cotton weight (26 kgs), kiddie weight (28 kgs), vacuum weight (30 kgs), ant weight (32 kgs) and minimum weight (34 kgs) while for Kids 13-15 are power weight (36 kgs), light mosquito weight (38 kgs), mosquito weight (4 kgs), light paper weight (42 kgs) and paper weight (44 kgs).

For the 16-18 Under Bracket, the weight categories are: pin weight (46 kgs), light fly (48 kgs), fly weight (50 kgs), light bantam (52 kgs), and bantam (54 kgs) while the Elite 19-25 include the light weight (49 kgs), fly weight (52 kgs), bantamweight (56 kgs), lightweight (60 kgs), and light welter weight (63-64 kgs).

Competing boxers are mandated to undergo a general check-up and official weigh-in on April 15. On the same day, the managers and coaches are scheduled to attend the final briefing.

The Panaad Boxing Tournament has served as one of the training grounds for future boxing champions from Negros Occidental.*
