Baby rescued

A 2-month-old baby girl abandoned by her mother was rescued at Crossing Carmen in Barangay Granada, Bacolod City, at about 2:15 p.m. yesterday.

The baby was rescued from Mila Canoy, a resident of the barangay, to whom the mother left the infant, by Senior Police Officer 4 Uldarica Estomata of Police Station 5 with representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, as well as two Barangay Granada employees.

Canoy told the police and the DSWD personnel that before abandoning the baby, the mother attempted to sell her twice and also physically harmed her.

The baby was placed under the care of the Bacolod City Department of Social Services and Development.*SGG
