The brother of an elusive drug group leader and his companion were arrested with about P250,000 worth of suspected shabu in front of an eatery at Alijis-Murcia Road in Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City, at about 1 a.m. on Maundy Thursday, the police said.
Bacolod City Drug Enforcement Unit operatives conducted a buy-bust operation and nabbed Rex Poja, alias “Mamang”, 36, of Barangay Estefania, and Mario Ferrer, 43, of Barangay Banago.
Rex Poja is the brother of Ramy Poja, who has repeatedly escaped from authorities conducting operations against him at his residence in Sitio Sibucao, Barangay Banago, by tossing hand grenades at them. These happened onAug. 19, 2015, July 19, 2016 and again on Feb. 24, this year.
All law enforcement agencies such as the Philippine National Police, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group are now running after Ramy Poja, who has pending warrants of arrest for murder and drugs charges.
Six sachets of suspected shabu and P1,000 in marked money were seized from Rex Poja and Ferrer, a report from the CDEU said.
A white Toyota Hilux was also confiscated from the suspects, the Bacolod City Police Office reported.
Rex Poja and Ferrer were brought to the custodial facility of Station 8 and charges for violations of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were being readied against them.*SGG
