NPA claims victory
on anniversary
BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Despite tactical offensives launched against them by the Philippine Army, the two New People’s Army commands in central Negros are claiming success in their consolidation efforts.

The newly-formed Mt. Cansermon Command of the NPA in central Negros claimed an increase in its fighters by 300 percent from 2014 to 2016, with an average of 40 percent increase every year.

With this, Ka Dionesio Magbuelas further claimed that they were also able to augment their Yunit Militia (YM) members in barangays.

Magbuelas also reported what he calls successful imposition of death penalty on six individuals he accused to be counter-revolutionaries and military assets of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and recovered two .45 caliber pistols, while another one survived, although injured.

He further claimed that 10 soldiers were killed, and eight others were injured in an encounter onDecember 7 last year in Sitio Double Yarding, Brgy. Carabalan, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, with the NPA.

The NPA claims were vehemently denied by the 303rd Infantry Brigade, and dismissed as “cheap propaganda”.

Ka JB Regalado, spokesman of the Leonardo Panaligan Command in central Negros, also claimed that their strength also rose by about 30 to 35 percent. At the same time, Regalado reported the organization of platoon-sized “yunit militia” in barangays.

He also claimed that they were able to launch 28 military actions to neutralize the enemy, imposition of revolutionary justice, while 33 firearms were confiscated, including thousands of ammunition and military logistics.

These included the successful ambush of policemen in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental, that claimed the lives of six policemen, a military informant, and inflicting injuries to three others, he claimed.

The Leonardo Panaligan Command also condemned the 62nd and 79th Infantry Battalions, Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade and a vigilante group KAGUBAK (Kawsang Guihulnganon Batok Komunista), that it claimed to be behind the series of killings in Negros Oriental, were 19 victims was killed from July 23 last year to March this year.*GPB
