With the eight Busmen back to Ceres-Negros FC quarters after helping the national team secure a spot in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, the team is now ready to start their title retention bid inthe Philippines Football League against Kaya FC at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City, Wednesday.
Re-joining the team after their latest stint in the national team are team captain Carli de Murga, Patrick Reichelt, brother Manny and Mike Ott, Kevin Igreso, Sean Kane, Jeffrey Christaens, and Junior Muñoz.
With Kaya officially announcing its move from Makati to Iloilo last month, another intensive rivalry between the two squads from Visayas has emerged. With a solid fanbase and deeply rooted love for football on both sides, the clash between Ceres and Kaya is one of the most awaited match-ups in the PFL this season.
The Busmen are almost unbeatable at home and Kaya will be out to test their strength.
For Wednesday’s match, Kaya is expected to field a tough lineup with goalkeeper Ref Cuaresma heading the list of probable starters that also include defenders ChyVillasenor, Masanari Omura, Camelo Tacusalme, Jalsor and Janrick Soriano, forwards Jovin Bedic, Kenshiro Daniels, Jayson Panhay, and midfielders Antonio Ugarte and Miguel Tanton.
Also listed on Kaya’s lineup are Michaell Menzi (defender), Alfred Osei (midfielder), Robert Lopez Mendy (forward), Dean Ebarle (defender), Eric Giganto (forward), Zach Banzon (goalkeeper), and Marwin Angeles (midfielder).
Noel Marcaida is listed as Kaya’s head coach while former national team campaigner Chris Greatwich is the team manager, and Paul Tolentino, general manager.
Meanwhile, Ceres resumed their campaign in the AFC Cup with an away game against BoeungKet FC in Cambodia on Apr. 11 and will be back at the Panaad for the Apr. 25 match against Home United.*NAB
