Two minors drown, three others die, too

Two minors drowned, while another died in a vehicular accident Saturday in Negros Occidental.

Lovely Mae Apas and April Rose Baynosa, both 13 years old, drowned, while swimming in a lagoon in Brgy. Camindangan, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental, police records showed yesterday.

Chief Inspector Romeo Vargas, Sipalay City police chief, said Apas and Baynosa were both declared dead on arrival at the Sipalay City Health Office by Dr. Roberto Ledesma.

Investigations of the Sipalay City police showed that the two victims were chasing each other, while swimming in the deep portion of the lagoon, when they both drowned.

Before the incident, both victims and theirother minor companions harvested peanuts, but later decided to go swimming in the lagoon. Since there was nobody to rescue the two minors they both drowned, the police said.

Six-year-old Kienhon James Vistar,6, also died, while two of his companions suffered injuries, when the motorcycle they were riding figured in a collision with a pick-up vehicle also on Saturday at BanggaTagnipis in Hacienda Amparo, Brgy. Old Sagay, Sagay City, Negros Occidental.

Vistar was declared dead on arrival at the Lopez District Foundation Hospital, where his two companions identified as Renzo Dimson, 19, and Keith Vistar, 23, are being treated for injuries.

Investigations of the Sagay City police showed thatthe Nissan Pathfinder pick-up driven by Ivan Milabo was on its way to Brgy. Old Sagayproper, when it collided with the Rusi Splinter 150 motorcycle driven by Dimson.

Milabo later surrendered to the Sagay City Police Station.

A missing woman identified as HaydelitaPiornato, 69, was also found dead on Saturday in a sugarcane field in SitioJalandoni, Brgy. Bato, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.

Piornato, who was suffering from tuberculosis and related pulmonary disease, left her residence on Friday to drink coffee at the house of her relatives in the place.She failed to return home, and was reported missing by her family.

Her body was found the next day in the area.

There was no sign of foul play in her death, according to the police.

Leo Pacalda, 58,was also found dead at his residence, also on Saturday in Brgy. Zone 2, Murcia, Negros Occidental.

The body of Pacalda was already in a state of decomposition, when discovered, a Murcia police report said.*GPB
