DICT head thanked for IT-BPO help

A local Information Technology and Business Process Outsourcing industry leader said the resignation of the Department of Information and Communications Technology Secretary Rodolfo Salalima will not prevent the industry's aspiration to scale up, especially in the countryside.

Executive Director of the Bacolod Negros Occidental Federation of Information and Communications Technology JocelleBatapa-Sigue said Salalima had been a big help to put the Countryside Clause in the DICT implementing rules and regulations.

In her Facebook post, Batapa-Sigue said she thanked Salalima for his efforts to develop the IT-BPO industry in the countryside, including Bacolod City and his help to the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines.

Earlier reports said that the cause of Salalima's resignation was that he could not deal with the corruption and interference in this newly-established agency. He filed his resignation on September 5.*MLG
