Agents of the National Bureau of Investigations seized a cache of guns and ammunition, explosives, and suspected shabu during a raid at the house of a police officerat Regent Pearl Homes Subdivision in Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City, yesterday.

Recovered were at least 30 firearms, including shotguns, rifles, pistols, Ingrams, magazines, 1,000 rounds of assorted ammunition, two vintage bombs,four hand grenades and suspected shabu.

Armed with a search warrant issued by Manila Regional Trial Court, Branch 53 Judge Reynaldo Alhambra, the NBI personnel with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Regional Public Safety Battalion, swooped down on the house of Senior Police Officer 1 Joshua Barile. moremoremore

Flooding triggers evacuations in

Floods brought by heavy rains triggered evacuations, the destruction of houses, power outages, stalled traffic and stranded hundreds of commuters in various parts of Bacolod City last night.

In Purok Mars, Barangay Singcang Airport, residents from the “Lechonan Country” were seen trying to rescue their pigs that were floating in flood waters.

Floods also hit Talisay,Bago, Pontevedra, La Carlota and Sipalay City, and other parts of Negros Occidental, Dave  Cuajao of the Provincial Disaster Management Division said. moremoremore

The Dumaguete City Technical Working Group was able to find a possible site for a sanitary landfill in Barangay Soludpan, Bacong, Negros Oriental.

City Agriculturist William Ablong and other members of the TWG, like Wilfredo Oira of the City Engineer's Office, Frannie Pabayos of the Environment and Natural Resources, Stan Ebelewicz, Junob Barangay Captain Isagani Bana, Josephine Antonio, and a representative from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources have found the site for possible sanitary landfill.

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo has widened the search for lots to establish the sanitary landfill, which is consistent of his vow to close the Candau-ay dumpsite within his term, a press release from City Hall said..
