The bishop issued the call at a prayer rally in front of the San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod City to mark the 45 th anniversary of the declaration of martial law, that was attended by about 300 people who later joined a procession around the public plaza.

“Never again to martial law.”
That was the cry of militant groups who staged rallies in Bacolod, Kabankalan and Escalante cities in Negros Occidental as part of a nationwide protest on the 45 th anniversary of the declaration of martial law yesterday.
In Bacolod City about 50 protestors gathered at the Fountain of Justice at Araneta Street in Bacolod to denounce the possible re-imposition of martial law by President Rodrigo Duterte, extra judicial killings, and widespread human rights violations.

TMO suspends clampdown
on ‘erring' tricycle drivers
The Traffic Management Office of Dumaguete City has suspended its clampdown on “erring” tricycle drivers who have not complied with permits and other requirements, due to the volume of applications for a certification from the office.
TMO head Gilbert Ablong said late Wednesday that after the one-day clampdown, the TMO had to suspend the enforcement because the administrative section could not anymore cope with the volume of applications for traffic certification, as a result of the operation.
