Bacoleño kills nephew

A man observed to be mentally unstable, stabbed dead his nephew, a minor,in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, at about 5:30 p.m. Monday, the police said yesterday.

The 12-year-old victim succumbed to multiple stab wounds, Senior Police Officer 4 Arlyn Torrendon, Bacolod Women and Children Protection Desk chief, said yesterday.

The boy was brought to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival.

Investigation showed that the suspect, identified as Mike Cresincio, 33, armed with a knife, chased the victim and his three cousins, all minors, Torrendon said.

However, the victim, who suffered muscle cramps on the legs, was not able to run, and was caught by Cresincio, Torrendon said.

She said Cresincio, who was positively identified by the minors who survived the attack, was arrested an hour later.

In an interview with Aksyon Radyo-Bacolod,Cresincio said he suspected the victim of stealing his pet dog.

Torrendon said that charges for murder in relation to Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act are being readied against Cresincio, who is now detained at the custodial facility of Station 7.*SGG
