‘not definitive', Piñol says
Consultation set; Zubiri to lobby for retention

A griculture Secretary  Emmanuel  Piñol yesterday said he thinks President Rodrigo Duterte was just floating an idea about the abolition of the Sugar Regulatory Administration.

“It was not really a definitive pronouncement,”Piñol said.

Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri said yesterday he would lobby for the retention of the SRA, while former Negros Occidental Gov. Rafael Coscolluela said the sugar industry is in for difficult times.

The president, in his speech at the Mindanao Business Conference and Expo in Cagayan de Oro on Saturday, said he would abolish the SRA and the Road Board to streamline government and curb corruption. moremoremore

Dumaguete City's Barangay Calindagan grabbed the Most Outstanding Tanod and Barangay Motong pocketed the Lupong Tagapamayapa incentives awards, while Barangay Looc was cited second runner-up in the search for Most Outstanding Barangay Peace and Order Council recently at the Robinsons Mall in the city.

The press release said the three barangays bested hundreds of other barangays of component cities in Negros Oriental.

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo paid tribute to the efforts and sacrifices of the barangay officials and volunteers.
