Act now or face
sunset industry: guv

Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday stressed the need for sugar industry stakeholders to unite in addressing their numerous problems to prevent it from becoming a sunset industry.

Former president Corazon Aquino, at the start of her administration, had already warned of a sunset industry, and there were far less problems being faced by the sugar industry then, than there are today, he said.

The governor said he hopes stakeholders invited to join the Sugar and More Negros Summit at Sugarland Hotel today, attend because the future of the sugar industry is at stake. moremoremore
