Duterte says MassKara shows
Pinoys can surmount any crisis

President Rodrigo Duterte last night said that more than the merrymaking, let the MassKara Festival be a continuing testament that no amount of hardship can dampen the Filipino spirit.

Duterte, who was guest of honor at the closing rites of the 38 th MassKaraFestival in Bacolod City, said he admires the people of Bacolod because when he was yet mayor, it suffered the most serious economic dip due to the sugar crisis and the M/V Don Juan sea mishap.

“But you were able to invent an event that would bring comfort and maybe consolation to the depressed emotions of the Negrenses. That is why I salute you,” he said before a crowd of 5,000. There were 10,000 more spectators outside the plaza who watched the MassKara dancers perform, the police said. moremoremore

crop damage in 3 LGUs

The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist recorded about P15.56 million worth of crop damage and losses after floods and heavy rains brought by Typhoon Paolo, hit three local government units in Negros Occidental last week.

OPA's initial report to the Office of the Governor, released to the media yesterday, showed that, as of Oct. 20, there was total damage of P15,557,622.25 affecting the towns of Binalbagan, Hinigaran, and Valladolid.

Provincial Agriculturist Japhet Masculino said local agriculturists in these areas are still validating all the reports and he urged them to do it immediately so they can give assistance to the affected farmers. .
