Classes, work suspended
but no transportation strike

President Rodrigo Duterte has suspended classes in all public and private schools, and government work today to minimize public inconvenience arising from a planned nationwide transportation strike.

However, the three transportation groups in Bacolod City are not joining the nationwide strike today.

The suspension of work does not include the private sector. The President is giving private employers the discretion on whether to suspend work, Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said. moremoremore

Only 10 PDEA agents
assigned in province

There are only 10 agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency assigned in Negros Occidental.

Due to severe lack of personnel, Western Visayas PDEA regional director Wardly Getalia said they will continue to link up with the Philippine National Police and other law enforcement agencies in the conduct of anti-drug operations.

Getalia, who used to be the PDEA deputy regional director of the defunct Negros Island Region, toldBomboRadyo that Region 6 is composed of only about 50 personnel, including 35 agents, of which 10 are detailed in Negros Occidental. moremoremore

Duterte at Buglasan opening,

President Rodrigo Duterte yesterday vowed to build strong and well-equipped military and police forces, before his term ends.

“Terrorism will not disappear, we anticipate another assault maybe this time in two or three places in the Philippines but we are prepared,” said Duterte, who was the keynote speaker at the opening ceremonies of the 2017 Buglasan Festival at the Lamberto Macias Sports and Cultural Center in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.
