To promote mental health awareness, the Negros Group of Psychiatrists and friends of the late Dr. Rico Angelo Gerona III are leading the 2017 Run for R.I.C.O. event on Oct. 15.
The fun run will feature three distances, the 3km, 5km, and 10km will start 5 am. From Robinson's Place in Bacolod City. Artworks created by Grade 9 students on the topic of drug prevention will also be displayed at the venue.
The organizers said R.I.C.O. stands for Running Invites Camaraderie and Optimism, and through the fun run, they want to help reduce the stigma associated with mental illness.
The event also aims to raise funds for mental health advocacy projects, the organizers said.*
