Secure MassKara, new police head told

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia yesterday directed the newly-installed officer-in-charge of the Bacolod City Police Office to give the MassKara Festival top priority, especially with the expected arrival of President Rodrigo Duterte, and reiterated his callto put a stop to illegal drugs and criminality.

Supt. Roderick Minong, the commander of the Regional Public Safety Battalion-6, was designated officer-in-charge of BCPO, after Senior Supt. Jack Wanky was relieved as city police director, and transferred to the Police Regional Office-6 in Camp Delgado, Iloilo City, effective yesterday.

Bacoleño gets life for shabu sale

A Bacolod resident has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the sale of P500worth of shabu to a police poseur buyer.

Bacolod Regional Trial Court Branch 47 Judge Therese Blanche Bolunia found Jovy Gaitan Gonzaga of Charito Heights Subdivision, Barangay Granada, Bacolod, guilty beyond reasonable doubt of the sale of shabu in violation of Republic Act 9165 ( Dangerous Drugs Act) and sentenced him to life imprisonment and to pay a fine of P500,000 in Criminal Case 13-38181.

Gonzaga was also found guilty of possession of dangerous drugs and meted a penalty of 12 years and one day as minimum to 15 years as maximum and to pay a fine of P300,000 in Criminal Case 13-38179. moremoremore

Regions 6, 7 to
get 240 new soldiers

The Army's 3rd Infantry Division will soon deploy 240 neophyte soldiers to its infantry units in regions 6 and 7.

Capt. Eduardo Precioso, 3ID Public Affairs Office chief, said that the 240 soldiers yesterday completed the six-month Candidate Soldier Course cross trained with the Jungle Warfare Mountain Operation Course training, held at Camp Macario Peralta in Jamindan, Capiz.

The 3ID has two infantry battalions deployed in Negros Island, and beefed up by two Negros Island Geographical Battalions..
