House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, who led the mass oathtaking of about 13,000 new Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakasng Bayan members in Negros Occidentalyesterday,rallied their forces to support President Rodrigo Duterte amid what he called moves to derail the administration's efforts to bring about change.

He also called on the new PDP Laban members to back the senatorial candidates ofPDP-Laban in 2019, who would include representatives Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3 rd District) and Geraldine Roman (Bataan, 1 st District) to ensure the ruling party will dominate the Upper Chamber.

“In 2019 I am asking you, if you fully support the President, support the candidates of PDP-Laban for the Senate,” he said, with a 12-0 vote. moremoremore

A proposed United Negros Alliance coalition with the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakasng Bayan, and a merger between UNegA and Love Negros were raised at the PDP Laban Negros mass oathtaking rites in Victorias City yesterday.

Rep. Stephen Paduano (Abang Lingkod Partylist), in his speech, said that yesterday marked another milestone in the political history of Negros Occidental with leaders of Love Negros and UNegA gathered together under PDP Laban.

Bank buys out P116 million
debt of City Hall employees

A bank will buy out all bad debts and past due accounts of City Hall employees, worth P116,764,586.71 from seven lending and banking institutions in Dumaguete City.

A memorandum of agreement was signed yesterday between the city government, represented by Mayor Felipe Remollo, and 1 st Valley Bank Inc. chief of staff, Glen Mendez, for the total buyout, including good debts.

Instead of being sent demand letters and being a defendant in a collection suit in court, the bank will buy the debts and past due accounts of the City Hall employees from the Development Bank of the Philippines, Land Bank of the Philippines, Philippine Veterans Bank, Perpetual Help Credit Cooperative Inc., Dumaguete Cathedral Credit Cooperative, CFI, Banco Dipolog, and the city cooperative or DCEGEGWAI. ..
