Alex Barredo, alias “Rondoy”, the leader of the Rondoy Robbery Group that was allegedly responsible for the series of hold-up and “agaw-motor” incidents in Bacolod City, recently,is now facing multiple chargesbefore the Bacolod City Prosecutor's Office.
Chief Insp. Benedicto Villarias, Police Station 2 commander, said Barredo, 24, of Barangay Mambulac in Silay City, Negros Occidental,was charged yesterdayfor direct assault and violations of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Charges for violations of Section 11 or the possession of drugs under Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002;Section 32 of R.A. 7166 or the Commission on Elections gun ban; and R.A. 9516, or the possession of explosive, were also filed against Barredo, Villarias said.
Barredo was arrested at 13th Street in Bacolod, Monday. He also attempted to shoot the police who were apprehending him, Villarias said.
A .38 caliber revolver, a .38 misfired cartridge, five unfired .38 cartridges, three sachets of suspected shabu, a hand grenade, and a sling bag were recovered from Barredo, police records show.
Barredo, and his companions, Teddy Mar Carmona, 27, of Barangay 6 and Jomar Vargas, 35, of Barangay Tangub in Bacolod, who were nabbed in a buy-bust operation in PurokPilit 1, Barangay 6 in Bacolod, Friday, were the suspects in most robbery hold-up and “agaw-motor” incidents in Bacolodand nearby areas, the police said.
Barredo had earlier said that he will face whatever cases are filed against him.
He is now locked up at thePolice Station 2 detention cell.*SGG
