Two unidentified gunmen shot and killed a former Army soldier in Brgy. Amayco, Murcia, Negros Occidental, yesterday.
The victim, identified as Benito Miparanum, an ex-Army soldier, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds and died on the spot, the Murcia police said.
Senior Inspector Ronald Santillan, Murcia police chief, yesterday said Miparanum was approached and shot by the two gunmen, while he and his wife, delivered their adopted child to the school in the barangay.
However, Santillan said the wife of the victim, was spared by the gunmen, who fled on board an XRM motorcycle
The police recovered six empty shells and two slugs of a .45 caliber pistol at the scene of incident.
Initial investigations of the Murcia police showed that the shooting incident may have been triggered by personal grudges.
Santillan also said they are looking into the possibility that the two suspects may have been hired to kill the ex-Army soldier, who is facing rape charges in court.
He added that the killing of Miparanum was well-planned.
