Cops bust robbery gang

The leader of the Rondoy Robbery Group that is allegedly responsible for the series of hold-upand “agaw-motor” incidents in Bacolod City was arrestedat 13th-Lacson streets in Barangay 7, Bacolod City, at about 4:30 a.m. yesterday.

Alex Barredo, alias “Rondoy”, 24, of Barangay Mambulac in Silay City, Negros Occidental, was nabbed by members of Police Station 2, the Bacolod City Police Office Tracker Team and Special Operations Group.

Filing of COCs Thursday

The filing of certificates of candidacy for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on October 23 will start Thursday if President Rodrigo Duterte does not sign a law postponing it by then, Negros Occidental Provincial Elections Supervisor Jessie Suarez said yesterday.

The filing of the COCs will be from October 5 to 11, and the campaign period will run from October 12 to 21, Suarez said.

A gun ban is inforce during the election period for the barangay and SK polls that began Sunday and will run until October 30, Suarez also pointed out. moremoremore

Anti-insurgency operations
in Negros Oriental boosted

The Police Regional Office 7 is starting to pour in more combat-trained troops to Negros Oriental to beef up its anti-insurgency operations in the province.

PRO-7 director, Chief Supt. Jose Mario Espino, announced the deployment of one platoon from the Regional Public Safety Battalion 7 during the regular flag-raising activity of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office at Camp Fernandez in Sibulan town, yesterday.

He said in an interview that the move is just the first step towards securing the province from the threat posed by the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army..
